We met up with my parents in Austin in spring 2009, and had a grand old time eating barbecue, poking around the university campus and driving through the wildflower-dotted Hill Country. Â
But we’ve not yet seen the rivers of San Antonio, the gulf coast of Galveston,
the art and observatory of dusty Marfa,
the mountains of El Paso, or the NASA Space Station in Houston. Â
Here are some resources to help you plan your own “travels with two” to Texas.
Austin: Dinner Down on the Farm
If you want to sample the real food of Austin, Texas, you can go in two directions:
1) Breakfast tacos from a roadside trailer;
2) A farm dinner where everything is locally produced, right…over…there.

Austin, Texas is a foodie town, hands down. Â From the time we landed to the time to we left, we consistently destroyed our diets…even if we only ogled the food. Â
And you know what? Â We would gladly do it all over again.
