Back in late June 2005, we met up with friends at Glacier National Park
and visually gorged ourselves on massive, snowy mountains,
rushing waterfalls, lush forest hikes
…and even a bear.
We’d love to return to Montana and work our way through the foodie heaven of Bozeman,
then drive the Beartooth Scenic Highway to see more of Big Sky Country.
Here are some resources to help you plan your own “travels with two” to Montana.
Sometimes L.A. traffic gets us down, but we just think about the cool forest shade of the Trail of the Cedars in Montana’s Glacier National Park…and the breathing room.
Soon we’re transported to a quiet boardwalk that winds it way through ancient trees and across the rushing, ice-blue Avalanche Creek, cradled by layers of moss-dappled stone. Sure, there are other people around, but everyone is in silent awe of the tallest trees we’ve all seen outside a redwood preserve.
One deep breath and our lungs are clear of smog and stress and the pressing need to be anywhere else.
In Glacier, the winter snow doesn’t come ’til October…and the high season ends in late September. In other words…there’s still time. [Read more...]
We were lying in bed the other morning, reluctant to start the work day, when we got to reminiscing about Glacier National Park.
Yes, we’re worried about the glaciers, which may well be gone by 2030. Yes, we fell hard for the wooly white mountain goats that flit lightly across the snow. But here in northwestern Montana, in the verdant forest valley of Trout Lake and Camas Creek, it’s the glassy teal water, cool mountain air, and absolute quiet that we miss the most. [Read more...]
