We recently traveled to a gorgeous little slice of northwestern Costa Rica called Playa Pan de Azúcar (aka Sugar Beach) to attend a family wedding at a remote and inviting resort with a calm Pacific cove, lively tidepools, a sunset sky aglow with peachy fire and a small stream that trickles through a lush landscape sprinkled with fallen blossoms.

When Adam’s cousin Minona invited us to her wedding on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, Adam and I clapped a high-five heard ’round the U.S.

We figured that she and her then-fiancee Peter’s far-flung choice of location was a clever ploy to pare down their guest list, but it soon became clear: although the happy couple lives  in New York City and their loved ones are spread from California to Massachusetts, only a scant few invites would come back with regrets.

A few weeks ago, Adam and I headed down to Costa Rica to attend a family wedding and see what all the fuss is about this tourist-beloved, eco-conscious country. After a long weekend by the beach in northwestern Guanacaste, a spectacular drive down the Pacific Coast to the wild, remote Osa Peninsula, and a night in the capital city of San Jose, the fuss has now been seen…and believe me, we’re on board.
