On safari in the Okavango Delta, it’s one thing to ride in a cozy truck and look out the window.
It’s another thing entirely to step outside and follow a man with a gun into the wilderness.
I’ve had New England on the brain lately, missing my East Coast childhood trips to see cousins, family friends and historic sites.
Aside from a wedding near Connecticut’s Mystic Seaport, we’ve never traveled to the region together. It’s long been on our to-go list, under the vague heading of autumn leaves, pumpkins and scenic drives.
But why wait until Fall? When I heard that the Mark Twain House & Museum (a well-loved stop along one of those trips from my youth) designed a 6-day itinerary that takes you from one literary landmark to another, I just had to share. It sounds like a wonderful way to get out of the office and inspire yourself to do some traveling…and some reading.

Finding Balance at Rancho La Puerta – Part One and Part Two

The two things I heard most about Rancho la Puerta, a wellness resort in Baja, Mexico, were the hikes and the organic garden — and with good reason.
The land here is gorgeous, the quality of the light blending from soft to brilliant over sacred Mount Kuchumaa. The soil, enriched by resort-made compost, sustains enough produce to feed everyone here. You can take a special hike to see the garden for yourself, or take a cooking class at the resort’s school for a more in-depth experience.

During our week at Rancho La Puerta, a wellness resort in Tecate, Baja, Mexico, I was relieved that 1) Adam was loving the intense circuit training and cardio classes and 2) many of the activities were gentler and more free-form.
