Couples Swept Away
Well folks, we’re off to the Caribbean again! Tonight we’re heading back to Jamaica on another press trip for Couples Resorts, this time to visit Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away.
Having just read a travel guru’s 2010 prediction that all-inclusive resorts will be increasingly popular with budget-conscious travelers, this trip feels like great timing. That, and there never seems a bad time to visit two of the best-reviewed resorts on Earth.
Travel + Leisure just published their World’s Top 50 Hotels, and Couples Negril (#36) and Couples Swept Away (#42) both made the list. Swept Away, where we’ll be staying, also made Condé Nast Traveler‘s Gold List for 2010. How’s that for fancy?
Having already experienced Tower Isle and Sans Souci in Ocho Rios (both of which also made the prestigious T +L 500), the Couples’ Montego Bay area properties have our full attention. By the end of next week, we’ll have the unique pleasure of being able to say we’ve seen all the resorts this boutique chain has to offer.
In addition to meeting a bunch of writers for the first time, I’m excited to introduce Adam to my Belize bloggers’ trip companion, Kara Williams of The Vacation Gals, and meet her ice-climbing, rappel-master husband, Quent, as he kicks back on the calm white sands of Negril.
Adam and I will be seeing the island in winter rather than summer, taking a sunset cruise along cliffs and sea caves, and will have almost an entire day to ourselves to take a hike in lush, wild Cockpit Country or a bamboo raft float down the lush, wild Martha Brae River. Not ones to sit still and all-include for long, we’re eager to see ourselves a little more Jamaica.
This’ll be Adam’s last trip for awhile — he does have a company to run — so I hope it’s a doozy. Looking forward to sharing it with you!

SOOOOO excited to see you and meet Adam! You know, I think I did that bamboo raft excursion when I was last in Jamaica… 17 years ago! Will share insight when I see you (likely all jet-lagged and puffy eyed from overnight flight, but whatever).
