We first visited Santa Fe years ago with my parents to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary.
It was a town full of art, color, elaborately decorated bicycles, avocados and very expensive jewelry.
We’ve since been back amidst a business-trip weekend in Albuquerque ;
a less attractive town by far, it does have good restaurants and a cool adobe village downtown.
Our first choice would be Taos:
The astounding drive in from the south end of town is straight out of a Georgia O’Keefe painting,
and the outskirts are home to the intriguing, eco-friendly Earthships.
