Well, hi there, folks — happy almost-weekend to you!
I’m hard at work preparing lots of new material for the launch of the TWT re-design, coming soon. It’s been a summer-long project so far, and will prove, I hope, an even more helpful, inspirational resource.
Just now, I could be working 24 hours a day (in blogging, there’s always something you’re neglecting by doing, well, anything else), but there’s traveling yet to do.
We’re off at dawn tomorrow for our favorite spot on the Central California coast, Cambria, with a side trip to Paso Robles, our favorite wine country in the state. Toby the Wonder Corgi will be joining us, and we’re meeting up with Adam’s mom and stepdad to stay at the dog-friendly Cambria Shores Inn on Moonstone Beach.
(Our friend Heath has graciously agreed to stay in our air-conditioned, roommate-free house and look after our sweet and aged cat, Joey. Thank you, Heath!)
Cambria is a four-hour drive from our home in L.A., through some of the softest, rolling, wheaty, gnarled-oak, cow-dotted countryside imaginable. The occasional glimpses of the Pacific Ocean never hurt anyone, either.
We’ve only seen this set of Adam’s folks for one day so far this year; now retired and supported by rental properties near their home in Oakland, they spent three glorious months traveling around New Zealand in a caravan, occasionally stopping to indulge in a little agritourism.
Heck yes, I’ll be interviewing them about this trip…and yes, it’ll be up on the new site!
I’ll need a bunch of offline time to continue preparing new material, but keep an eye out in the next two weeks for posts on our recent Thousand Islands trip, Cambria, and Paso Robles.
And speaking of Paso Robles: Thanks to my participation in Twitter‘s #winewednesday discussion, I’ve learned about a whole new slew of area wineries and tasting rooms. We plan to check them out and share our findings. If you’re a wine lover, this Wednesday-only forum is a great resource for wines, deals and events and a fun way to make connections with other oenophiles all over the world.
Have a great weekend, wherever you’ll be — and if it’s somewhere fun, please tell us all about it here!
