Above It All: Hotel Everland

hotel everland 11 460x308 300x200 Above It All: Hotel EverlandAt last, a boutique hotel you can fall in love with wherever you’d like it to be.

I was just reading about Hotel Everland this morning in CNN’s online travel section, and think it’s an idea of rare and wacky genius.  An ultra-modernica pod created for the 2002 Swiss Expo by design duo L/B, it’s both a one-room hotel and interactive art project that can be picked up with a crane and put down just about anywhere there’s a spectacular view.

You can visit it during the day as part of the museum, or book it for a one-night stay.  While it ain’t cheap in its incarnation as a hotel room ($1200 US+), the towels and contents of the mini-bar are included, you have a veritable jukebox of records at your disposal, and breakfast is delivered to your door.

If all this and April in Paris sounds up your alley, get on it now — the ebay auctions are already underway for its last 19 openings.

This has to be one of the most romantic, crazy things I’ve ever heard of…which is why I love it.  I can only hope more Everlands are created and set down all over the world, wherever a night away is sorely needed.
